Highlights from 2024

As we start 2025, I’d like to take a brief look back to 2024. It was a busy but excit­ing year in many respects. Here are my top 5 high­lights, in rough­ly chrono­log­i­cal order:

1. Pre­sent­ed at the Music Library Asso­ci­a­tion Open­ing Ple­nary in March 2024 on the new Music Com­pan­ion to the Frame­work for Infor­ma­tion Lit­er­a­cy in Cincin­nati, Ohio.
2. Col­lab­o­rat­ed on Moun­tain Home Music’s 30th Anniver­sary Exhib­it at the Jones House in down­town Boone in August 2024. The Watau­ga Demo­c­rat cov­ered the exhib­it in an arti­cle here.
3. Assist­ed with the Tui St. George Tuck­er at 100 Sym­po­sium Exhib­it. The exhib­it fea­tured pho­tographs, pro­grams, peri­od­i­cals, and scores high­light­ing Tuck­er’s life and com­po­si­tion­al career.
4. Pre­sent­ed at the South­east Chap­ter of the Music Library Asso­ci­a­tion (SEMLA) at Fur­man Uni­ver­si­ty in South Car­oli­na this year on ear­ly col­lect­ing prac­tices of Amer­i­can music librarians.
5. Taught 46 instruc­tion ses­sions through­out the year in Spe­cial Col­lec­tions on archival mate­ri­als and doing archival research.
