As we start 2025, I’d like to take a brief look back to 2024. It was a busy but exciting year in many respects. Here are my top 5 highlights, in roughly chronological order:
- Presented at the Music Library Association Opening Plenary in March 2024 on the new Music Companion to the Framework for Information Literacy in Cincinnati, Ohio.
- Collaborated on Mountain Home Music’s 30th Anniversary Exhibit at the Jones House in downtown Boone in August 2024. The Watauga Democrat covered the exhibit in an article here.
- Assisted with the Tui St. George Tucker at 100 Symposium Exhibit. The exhibit featured photographs, programs, periodicals, and scores highlighting Tucker’s life and compositional career.
- Presented at the Southeast Chapter of the Music Library Association (SEMLA) at Furman University in South Carolina this year on early collecting practices of American music librarians.
- Taught 46 instruction sessions throughout the year in Special Collections on archival materials and doing archival research.
